SharkCon is an event that brings those who love the ocean together for a weekend of education and the fun of a Comic Con.

SharkCon has something for everyone who loves the ocean.

The event will be held at the Florida Fair Grounds, Tampa. It will be held Saturday July 14th, 2018 from 10 am-5pm & Sunday July 15th, 2018 from 10am-5pm. The idea behind Shark-Con is to bring all types and backgrounds of people (researchers, conservationists, boaters, scuba divers) together to share ideas, have a fun experience, learn, and come together to help the ocean. Sometimes people with different interests may disagree about how to approach the ocean and its needs, however, all of these people love the oceans and should learn to work together to make a difference.
The stars of the Shark World will be available all weekend.

July 10th: Ocean Geographic Pictures of the Year 2019 Pascal Award

I’ve been honored for the second year to have the Ocean Geographic Pictures of the year naming one of the categorie THE PASCAL LECOCQ AWARD FOR OUTSTANDING ACHIEVEMENT, along side the legendaries Ernie Brooks , David Doubilet, Ron and Valerie Taylor, Stephen Frink , Alex Mustard, Michael Aw and others.
The Creative Vision – the Pascal Lecocq Award for Outstanding Achievement – looked for unique, surprising, artistic interpretations of the ocean (intertidal or from the surface, abstract or ambiguous, but has to be executed to exacting photographic techniques). We looked for a distinct, well thought out process, originality and an attempt to convey a greater understanding of our watery planet.
The competition is host by the Australian magazine Ocean Geographic .

Thanks Michael Aw, Wildlife photographer, Author, Founder Ocean Geographic, Senior Fellow International League of Conservation Photographers, Fellow – Explorers Club, www.michaelaw.com. Ocean Geographic magazine (Australia) encourages deeper appreciation of the beauty and the fragility of our ocean planet with the use of the finest imageries and passionate essays of the sea.

Last year results.

Winner 2019 CV024

“Thinking of” creative vision… our winner had a creative vision, an idea he wanted to paint with the medium he used the best: underwater photography. He found the location, set the scene, used an inspirational lighting and shot the performance of the free diver. The homage to Rodin’s “Thinker” lets us think of what the inspirational light tells to the character: would it be that we need to respect Mother Nature and Mare Nostrum ?

Runner up 2019 CV021

The classic creative vision using the camera in the right spot to tell a story. No filter, no effect, no digital manipulation or post work. And you let the spectator imagine meanings like harmony of our planet, the balance of the fourth elements, the right proportion of our universe (given here by the blue starfish showing exactly what the golden ratio is) or… our lost paradise.

special mention 2019 cv025

Digital artists can play with numerous new tools today as brushes, effects, filters, 3D objects from the graphic palette and add them to underwater pictures to create visual artworks like this combination in blue. The best in this field of many applications this year.
